Tendinitis




Tendinitis

An inflammation in a tendon or the tendon covering.

Inflammation
A reaction to an injury to the body - by infection, chemicals or physical agents. The symptoms can be - depending on the location of the injury- redness, swelling, heat and pain. The purpose of the inflammation is to dilute and destroy the agent causing the inflammation. To do this, the immune system starts a cascade of actions that causes active cells to gather at the affected location. It is these cells and fluids that cause the redness, swelling, heat and pain.

Tendon
Band of fibrous tissue by which muscle is attached to bone.

Telangiectasia
Telangiectasia are dilated superficial blood vessels. This appearance may occur in rosacea, in certain systemic diseases like ataxia-telangiectasia, scleroderma or in some long-term therapy with topical fluorinated corticosteroids. Telangiectasia may also occur as a component of inherited disorders, including hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

Tachycardia
Rapid heart beat.

Rapid breathing.

Vessels located over the temples on each side of the head, that supply blood to part of the head.

A study in which radioactive potassium is carried by the blood and the progress is followed by x-ray pictures.

Pertaining to or affecting the chest.

Thrombolysis
The breaking up of a blood clot.

Thrombolytic therapy
A medication that dissolves blood clots.
