Spondarthritis
Spondarthritis Spondylarthopathy. A seronegative arthropathy related to ankylosing spondylitis and often also to the possession of HLA B27. RELATED TERMS-------------------------------------- Seronegative Refers to arthritis and means that the patient does not have rheumatoid factor in the blood. A proportion of patients with rheumatoid arthritis are 'seronegative'. Arthropathy Joint disorder - can be arthritis or any other kind of joint problem. Ankylosing Undergoing ankylosis (stiffening or fusion of a joint). Spondylitis Inflammation of the vertebrae. SIMILAR TERMS-------------------------------------- Spondylarthritis Defect in pars interarticularis of vertebra. Spondylitis Inflammation of the vertebrae. Spondylolisthesis Malalignment of vertebrae due to spondylolysis or degenerative change which allows one vertebra to slip forward on top of another. Spondylosis A degenerative process of the cervical spine that causes narrowing of the spinal canal and neural foramina, and produces compression of the spinal cord and nerve roots. Serum sickness was originally induced following therapy with large doses of antibody from a foreign source - e.g. horse serum. Slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A) A group of leukotrienes released by mast cells during anaphylaxis which induces a prolonged constriction of smooth muscle.
