Seronegative

|
Seronegative Refers to arthritis and means that the patient does not have rheumatoid factor in the blood. A proportion of patients with rheumatoid arthritis are 'seronegative'.

Arthritis

A condition that occurs in adolescence. It affects the thoracic spine and may give rise to pain and a kyphosis ('hump') although more often it is painless.
Schirmer test
To detect dry eyes (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). Sterile porous paper strips are hooked over the lower eyelid and tear production can be assessed.
Scoliosis
Lateral curvature (actually, rotational deformity) of the spine.
Septic arthritis
Bacterial infection of a joint or joints. Many organisms may do this but is usually very serious and may be life-threatening and must be diagnosed and treated urgently.
SERM
