Fragmentation

Fragmentation Separation into different parts, or preventing their integration, or detaching one or more parts from the rest. A fear of fragmentation of the personality, also known as disintegration anxiety, is often observed in patients whenever they are exposed to repetitions of earlier experiences that interfered with development of the self. This fear may be expressed as feelings of falling apart, as a loss of identity, or as a fear of impending loss of one's vitality and of psychological depletion.

Anxiety can be produced by external stress (exogenous anxiety) or internal stress (endogenous anxiety).

The process of growth and differentiation.

A term devised in 1969 by Frederick Hecht to denote a heritable point on a chromosome where gaps and breaks tend to occur.
Fragile X chromosome
An X chromosome with a heritable fragile site associated with a frequent form of mental retardation -- the fragile X syndrome.
Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome is the most common inherited cause of mental impairment, and the most common known cause of autism. Fragile X syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by a mutation of the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome, a mutation found in 1 out of every 2000 males and 1 out of every 4000 females. Typically the FMR1 gene contains between 6 and 53 repeats of the CGG codon. In people with the disorder, the FMR1 allele has over 230 repeats.

One of the most common causes of inherited mental retardation and neuropsychiatric disease in human beings, affects as many as one in 2000 males and one in 4000 females. Fragmin is a prescription or over-the-counter drug which is (or once was) approved in the United States and possibly in other countries. Active ingredient(s): dalteparin sodium.

Flight of ideas
A nearly continuous flow of accelerated speech with abrupt changes from topic to topic that are usually based on understandable associations, distracting stimuli, or plays on words. When severe, speech may be disorganized and incoherent.
Flooding
Implosion. A behavior therapy procedure for phobias and other problems involving maladaptive anxiety, in which anxiety producers are presented in intense forms, either in imagination or in real life. The presentations, which act as desensitizers, are continued until the stimuli no longer produce disabling anxiety.
Folie à deux
A shared psychotic disorder between 2 people, usually people who are mutually dependent upon each other.
Formal thought disorder
