Diovan A medicine used in the treatment of hypertension. RELATED TERMS-------------------------------------- Hypertension Higher blood pressure than normal. Diastolic blood pressure from 90 to 99 mm HG is considered mild hypertension; 100–109, moderate hypertension; and 110 or greater, severe hypertension. Systolic blood pressure from 140 to 159 mm HG is considered mild hypertension; 160–179, moderate hypertension; and 180 or greater, severe hypertension. Deseril A medicine used in the treatment of migraines. Based on methysergide and produced by Novartis. Desferal A medicine used in the treatment of acute iron intoxication. Dexacidin A medicine used in the treatment of steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions Dihydergot A medicine based in dihydroergotamine and used in the treatment of orthostatic hypotension and migraine with or without aura. Diovan Degenerative Myopia Pathologic progressive myopia. Causes RPE and choriocapillaris atrophy and photoreceptor degeneration. Leads to reduced visual acuity, night blindness and retinal detachment, the latter requires retinal surgery. Dermoid cyst A congenital (born with) tumor present in infancy as a yellowish swelling on the surface of the eye. It may enlarge during puberty. The dermoid cyst can be surgically removed by an ophthalmologist. Detached retina A condition in which the retina separates from another layer of cells in the back of the eye, resulting in a decrease in nutrition and visual function. It may be due to a hemorrhage, trauma, tumor, vascular malformation or from traction of the vitreous to which it is attached. Sometimes, people with high myopia will develop a retinal detachment, which requires emergency surgery. DTIC-Dome DTIC-Dome(dacarbazine) is a Bayer medication for the treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma. Diopter The unit used to measure the amount of refractive or focusing power of the eye. It also refers to the strength of lens required to provide clear vision. In general, the higher the refractive error, as measured in diopters, the worse the eye.
