Coronary artery spasm
|

Coronary artery spasm A sudden closing of an artery, which cuts off blood flow to the heart and causes symptom of angina or heart attack.

Artery
A blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the body.

Coronary artery disease develops because of hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) that supply blood to the heart muscle. Diagnostic tests prior to (and after) CABG include the electrocardiogram (EKG), stress test, echocardiogram, and coronary angiography.
